Bengaluru: Special talent in the field of chess, Samartha Jagadeesha Rao of Honnavara was blessed with Pratibha Puraskara by SriRamchandrapura Matha’s Jagadguru Shankaracharya Sri Sri Raghaveshwara Bharathi Mahaswamiji this Thursday.
In the International Chess Championship for the disabled in the junior level organised in New Jersey of America, Samartha emerged as a champion in the physically disabled section by scoring 5.5 in the 7th round of the championship.
Samartha, a 2nd year B.Com student of SDM college in Honnavara has hoisted the flag of glory of the country for the second time in America. Samartha, being a student of chess coach Ajith M P Mysore, has been coached before under Late V R Shastry Honnavara, Prasad Hegde Sirsi, Vinay Kumar Hirematha Sirsi, Jyothi Prakasam Madhurai, Shrinidhi Sripathi Chennai, Swaraj Paalit Jharkhand, Kapil Lohan Poona.
Samartha is the son of Jagadeesha Rao and Vinutha Bhat of the Honnavara Valaya within the Honnavara Mandala.
