Pearls of Wisdom : Know the Background – Series of discourse by H.H.Shreemajjagadguru Shankaracharya Shree Shree Raghaveshwara Bharati Mahaswamiji

Sri Samsthana

A  man was travelling with his 25 year old son in a train. A newly married young couple were seated before them. The son was looking out of the window and  told his father,

“Look, the trees are running”.
The father said, “Yes  son.”

The son continued looking out and kept telling the father about all the objects he could see outside.

His behaviour seemed a bit strange to the young couple. They felt sorry for him and thought that the youth had some defect and asked the father,
“Sir, why don’t you consult a good doctor for your son’s ailment?”

The father replied,+&+

“We are just returning home from the hospital. My son was blind. Today, he got his vision after the surgery. He is looking at the world for the first time and everything looks new to him.”

Many a time, we  respond to situations without proper knowledge. If someone speaks or behaves in a particular manner there could be a background or reason for it. We need to take that into consideration before speaking.
