Pearls of Wisdom : Strive Hard – Series of discourse by H.H. Srimajjagadguru Shankaracharya Sri Sri Raghaveshwara Bharathi Mahaswamiji

Sri Samsthana

Once upon a time a competition was held among some frogs.  The frogs had to climb a tall pillar. Many other animals gathered to watch the competition.

Some animals said-  “This pillar is too tall for the tiny frogs to climb.”

Some other animals observed- “This pillar is very slippery and the frogs cannot climb it.”

Many frogs heard these comments and spoke among themselves- “We cannot climb this pillar, it would be a wasted effort.”

But one tiny frog struggled hard to climb the pillar and slowly made it to the top.

When it climbed down, the surprised animals asked the frog- “How did you climb the pillar?”

The tiny frog was deaf.  It could not hear the comments of other animals and it focused only on reaching its goal.

This story conveys two message one  to the society and one to the individual.
For the society:  ‘Do not discourage others.’

For  individuals: ‘Do not listen to discouraging words from others, keep striving to reach your goal.’
