Pearls of Wisdom : Hold my hands and Lead me – H.H. Srimajjagadguru Shankaracharya SriSri Raghaveshwara Bharathi Mahaswamiji

Once, a young child and her father had to cross a weak and long bridge. The father became worried about the safety of the child and told her-
“Hold my hands and walk slowly over the bridge.”

The child told the father-
“Papa, you hold my hand.”

Father asked-
“Child, what is the difference between you holding my hand or I holding your hand?”

The child replied-
“There is a lot of difference. If you hold my hand, since you are strong, you would not leave it under any circumstance. But I am weaker than you, if I hold your hand, I might have to leave your hand in some circumstances.”

Yes, if we surrender ourselves at the Lord’s feet totally, no misfortune can affect us. It is not enough if we say, ‘I am a devotee of God’. God should accept us as His devotee. This should be our goal.
