Pearls of Wisdom : Let us Sing and Dance Through Life – H.H. Srimajjagadguru Shankaracharya SriSri Raghaveshwara Bharathi Mahaswamiji

Sri Samsthana

Once a person was travelling in a snow clad region.  It was noon and he had to cross a river which was completely covered with ice. There was no bridge but the river was covered with a formation of  ice which acted like a bridge.

He began to worry-
“How to cross this bridge of ice? If I walked on it, would my legs sink? What would be my fate?”

Evening was fast approaching and it would be night soon.

The traveller  braved himself and decided to crawl across the ice-  bridge. He folded his hands and legs and started moving slowly over the ice- bridge like an animal.

Weighed down by fear and anxiety when he reached  mid- way, he heard a song from behind. He turned back and was surprised to see a person travelling in a horse coach on the same path. The person was singing merrily.

The traveller who was crawling over the ice- bridge  pitied himself and regretted that he suffered unnecessarily during the travel.

True, in life  each one of us have to face several  trials and tribulations. We have to face them boldly and move forward happily. Then life is a fulfilment , if not a burden.

Several times our worries are greater than the actual problem itself. Due to anxiety we fail to see the easy solution and end up suffering and experience unwanted hardship.  Hence, whatever comes our way, let us not be over anxious. Let us move forward singing and dancing merrily.
